Dear Members

Due to the latest government advice regarding Coronavirus, Reading Borough Council has taken the decision to close all leisure centres to the public until further notice. In light of this, no Direct Debit payments will be taken from your account for April 2020. At this stage it is impossible to say how long the closure will be in effect; however we will continue monitor the situation closely and will keep you updated. Please be assured that no further DD payments will be taken until the leisure centres return to normal operation.

What is the current position with the leisure centres?

Due to the latest government advice including social distancing measures, Reading Borough Council has taken the decision to close a number of buildings, including the leisure centres from Tuesday 17th March.

How long will you be closed?

At this stage it is not possible to give any definitive timescales for closure. We will continue to monitor the situation and follow Government and Public Health guidance.

What will happen with my membership DD?

All direct debit payment for both membership and people on courses (swimming / badminton / trampoline lessons etc.) have been suspended. No further DD payments will be taken until the centres are running as normal. Any credits on accounts will be adjusted on resumption of the Direct Debit; alternatively if customers prefer then we will do a prorate refund for fees paid.

What will happen with my block booking?

All bookings have been suspended whilst the centres are closed. Booking slots will be held so you won’t lose your slot when we return to normal operation. If payment in advance has been made then our Administration team will be in touch to arrange refunds or credits.

I have a party / event booked. What is the situation with this?

All bookings for the foreseeable future have been suspended. We will be in touch and either rearrange the booking or issue a full refund for any party / event affected by the closure.
